Finishing the year on a positive note

The snow has covered Finland again and there is very little daylight… Regardless, The Switchians are staying busy. Development projects are bustling – and deliveries are being shipped out. At the same time, our Key Account Managers are still bringing orders in… Just as Santa gets ready to do his rounds, our year-end commitments are keeping us focused on the work at hand.

This year has been a real rollercoaster for the wind power business. Turbine manufacturers have been suffering and are forced to review their strategies. The vertical integration paradigm has been strongly challenged by realities. Being the best in the industry does not mean that everything has to be manufactured in-house. This has been our view since the start for the business. And that’s why The Switch is ready and well positioned to serve as a partner to our customers.

The pressure in the wind power business has also allowed us to review our opportunities. We are progressing in other market segments, like solar, marine, high-speed and permanent magnet applications for OEMs and variable speed generation (VSG).

All things considered, the year is finishing on a positive note. And we will move into the New Year with high hopes. We will continue with the same strategic elements as earlier, but tune our approach to more closely align with our customers’ current market requirements. I look forward to an active dialog with all of you in the upcoming weeks and months. Through open communications, we can find a good way to work together towards more successful results.

Let’s make most of the frigid market, even if it’s not the coolest one to be in at the moment.
