Panu Kurronen, Product Manager for Generators at The Switch, has been nominated as an emeritus by the National Engineering Research Center for Offshore Windpower. This makes him an emeritus expert of the organization’s technical committee. The center is based in Chongqing, China, and specializes in offshore wind power equipment and technology research.
On April 22, 2016, Panu thanked the organization by delivering a speech to a wider audience of industry experts on offshore wind power drive trains.
One part of the speech was an analysis of the offshore wind market, which showed that over 67% of new turbine drive trains use PMG technology. Panu’s presentation really interested the audience, and the Q&A time after his speech led to some very active participation.
Sharing his feelings about the event, Panu explained: “It is a tribute to The Switch’s reputation in the Chinese market to be represented in such a forum.”
