The Switch participated as part of the Yaskawa and VIPA stand at the Hannover Messe from April 25 to 29, 2016. It was great to be part of the world’s biggest industrial fair, and we were pleased to introduce our new high-speed induction machines for turbo applications.
Around 6,500 exhibitors from as many as 70 countries are normally represented at Hannover Messe, making it a truly global event. This year there were over 190,000 visitors, so we had the chance to meet many types of people and see the most exciting and innovative technology from around the world.
We also had the opportunity to present our product to some of the biggest players in the energy industry. The Switch’s high-speed solid-rotor induction machines replace a mechanical gearbox with an electrical one. Up to 50% smaller than regular motors, the machines lead to greater efficiency, higher availability and reduced maintenance needs.
Giulio Martorelli, Business Development and Key Account Manager, explains: “We received interest in our high-speed induction machines, turbo applications and drive trains.”
“It was also valuable for us to meet our colleagues and people within the group,” Giulio adds. “We met people looking for new solutions. And because it’s really essential for The Switch to keep gaining visibility in the industrial arena, attending the fair was a very good thing.”
According to José Galvez, Product Manager for Converters, the kinds of turbo applications that we are making solutions for are becoming more and more popular. “You can see that suppliers are producing interesting options for these applications,” he says.
With a program that included speakers from the business world and conferences on cross-industry themes, there was also time for a special visit from Barack Obama. He joined Angela Merkel in opening the event, as well as giving a speech.
Finding out more about these different types of industry innovations was also useful, as José summarizes: “Attending the fair was a great way for us to see all of the innovations that are happening. Visiting Hannover Messe also clearly showed that the industry is always moving forwards.”
